I have diverse experience from working in healthcare, retail, and sports fields aiming to help customers and coworkers. At UCSC, classes on laboratories, programming, and technical communication focused on bioengineering have familiarized me with applicability in the field. Through a cohesive work environment, all skills and tasks are easy to learn and carry out. Learning is incredibly important to me, and it's important to be resourceful in figuring out solutions and to work diligently to maximize my efficiency. Various work situations have taught me to work well and efficiently within a group.
I have always tried to put myself in positions of importance and responsibility. I spent many years being a lifeguard, followed by some project management positions as an Ambulance Support Technician for a year. Recently I have been adding customer service and store management experience to my repertoire as a sales representative at Billabong, Santa Cruz, and prior to this, I was at Buell Surf Shop for 8 months.
As a Biomolecular Engineering major, my interests lie within the technical application of our knowledge to achieve what traditional methods cannot. Within laboratories, research, and other STEM classes my priority has shifted to today's world and the research of alternative materials and methods to make many of the products we love. Through technical communications and writing classes, I have learned how to effectively communicate scientific topics through technical reports, presentations, and graphic design. I have researched stem cell use in regenerative medicine, the synthesis of a polyurethane-like foam from sustainable materials, and more. Another useful skill I am growing is python programming in the focus of the bioinformatics field.
