Luke Gochis

I am pursuing a bachelors of Architecture degree concurrently with a Masters of Science in Architecture at Penn State University. I am always eager to learn more, and push myself academically and professionally, gaining more knowledge and passion in Architecture!

As an architecture student, I strive to continuously improve skills through my education and through professional experience. I take personal interest in sustainable design and the impact of a building’s carbon footprint. Through the Integrated Undergraduate / Graduate (IUG) program at Penn State, I am currently conducting research on design with Mass Timber and its role in promoting a circular economy.

• Site Analysis, Building Design, Creating Diagrams, and Renders in Twin Motion for Net Zero Energy State Park Office (AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop) 
• Concept Design inspiration research for South Fayette Elementary School. 
• Doing Redlines for Carlynton High school Renovation CD’s (Revit) – Organizing/documenting contractor’s RFI’s.
•  Multiple visits to construction sites. 

Architectural Intern at LGA Partners, Pittsburgh, PA : summer 2023

• Drawing and annotating Milan Laser retail store CD’s and Prelims (AutoCAD). 
• Creating Lumion Photo-matching Renders of Fisher Hall Bridge in Duquesne. 
• Creating a Cartoon set of CD’s for River Valley School Weld shop (Revit).
• Producing Multiple designs for Mellor Library 2nd floor feasibility study (Revit).
• Surveying IUP Punxsutawney buildings scheduled for demolition, and producing 3d model for demolition plans (Revit).

• Help with drawing structural/architectural plans from PDF to Revit.
• Designed presentations for competition entries of completed projects.
• Designed and created room data sheets for VA Retirement home.
• Exposure to working with architects and multiple other disciplines.
• Attending meetings and observing how a firm communicates toward clients, contractors, and with each other.
