I'm Mackenzie Cooney, a board-certified Physician Assistant passionate about helping people feel and look like their best version of themselves from the inside out.

As founder of Michigan Injector Academy and Director of Integrative Aesthetics, I teach medical professionals the art and science of advanced aesthetic injectable techniques while integrating holistic wellness practices for truly transformative results.

l've built a strong reputation in medicine as a skilled proceduralist and diagnostician, with five years of hands-on experience across ophthalmology, urgent care, and neuro/vascular interventional radiology. However, what truly sets me apart is the bright energy I bring to every interaction. My patients and colleagues quickly connect with me because I lead with pure genuineness, listen deeply, and make even the most complex issues feel approachable and empowering.

I earned my Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic

Medicine and am a proud Metro-Detroit native. While I'm rooted here for now, I'm open to relocation for the right opportunity.

Owner, Director of Integrative Aesthetics at Michigan Injector Academy (2025-12 – Present)

• Teach aesthetics and neuromodulator treatments to healthcare professionals, combining the underlying science with evidence-based conventional and integrative approaches. Students learn the indications, mechanisms, and clinical decision-making behind leading products, while developing a deep understanding of facial anatomy, physiology, and the principles of achieving natural, balanced results.
• Equip students with the confidence and competence to treat all injectable areas, including advanced off-label applications of the face, neck, and common miscellaneous areas. Emphasis is placed on precise injection technique with extensive hands-on training, dosing, depth, angle, patient assessment, and the prevention and management of complications.

Interventional Radiology PA at Corewell Health Royal Oak (2025-03 – 2026-03)

Dual-specialty IR PA

• Provided inpatient coverage for a high-volume comprehensive neuro IR unit, conducting consultations, bedside evaluations, and on-call stroke response for Southeast Michigan's leading stroke center.
• Served as first assist for complex neuroendovascular procedures, including diagnostic/therapeutic cerebral angiography; independently obtained vascular access and closure, and performed post-op management.
• Independently managed a lab, performing fluoroscopy-guided lumbar punctures, myelograms, epidural steroid injections, epidural blood patches, and intrathecal chemotherapy administrations.
• Independently performed and assisted with a broad range of fluoroscopy-guided procedures including mediport, tunneled dialysis catheter, and GI/GU tube placements and removals.
• Provided consult service for a high-volume emergent and non-emergent inpatient specialty, performed comprehensive pre-procedural patient assessments, led procedural planning, and oversaw post-procedural care.

Aesthetics PA at Oli At Home (2024-01 – 2025-11)

• Collaborated with the CEO to develop and execute the startup's vision, scale the company, and enhance brand recognition.
• Co-developed and directed a new employee onboarding training program and continuing education sessions
• Assess patient aesthetic concerns and goals, create customized treatment plans, and administer neuromodulator injections, dermal fillers, microneedling, and chemical peels to achieve desired cosmetic results with precision.

Urgent Care PA at Bloomfield Urgent Care (2024-02 – 2025-02)

• Provided rapid assessment and treatment for patients with non-life-threatening conditions and perform diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans to ensure timely care
• Managed patient flow and ensure efficient and effective treatment, while also educating patients on follow-up care and preventive measures to avoid future urgent care visits
