Hello! My name is Mac Rowe, and I'm a psychology graduate, a creative thinker, and group leader.
I became interested in psychology as a major well before I entered college, wanting to study more about clinical psychology. In addition to my ongoing fascination with clinical psychology, I also developed a love for data analysis, which I spent two years studying. This two year timespan would ultimately lead to me producing a total of three research studies at my alma mater, Oglethorpe University: two of those were collaborative, and another was performed completely on my own.
The latter was made to record autistic and non-autistic adults’ diagnoses with trauma-based mental illnesses. In doing so, I compiled several different diagnostic tests and incorporated them into a meta-diagnostic test for over 90 participants. In doing so I was able to show high proficiency in the SPSS software, in addition to collecting, interpreting, and reporting data.
After two years of practicing in this field, I feel more than confident in my ability to put these skills to legitimate work, and my passion for doing so is without equal.
During my senior year of college, I began an internship with the non-profit VOX ATL, which afforded me some much-needed experience in a business setting following the time that was lost during the COVID pandemic. I was able to utilize my attention to detail in helping polish and perfect content as a “guide on the side” for content written by teens, for teens. This was also not my first time with VOX–I have had a long history working with them on a volunteer basis, including my three-year term on the board of directors at the ripe age of 15.
I later became a social media strategist at Cami Co. Lace, in which I have been able to fully execute my career skills. In just my first month, I increased average following by about 20%, and doubled engagement.
During key sales periods, I was able to curate ad campaigns that as much as tripled profit margins. This was thanks to my ability to scope out trending content across various social media, and apply it to the company’s own content. I once again utilized my attention to detail by researching the company’s previous content, analyzing what performed best and incorporated this into future posts.
I was then able to establish a consumer ‘voice,’ to continuously put the company’s mind into their target demographic.
During my time at GoodMaps, I performed quality tests for maps specialized in accessibility for blind individuals. These QA tests were imperative in ensuring map interface clarity so that its userbase could feel confident in navigating the otherwise unnavigable. My tasks were primarily to differentiate key statistics among each map, identify causality for these differences, and to seek out errors and bugs within each map’s interfacing with immense attention to details.
My next goal is to work in a position that is more long-term so that I can grow with the company and see the difference I made and make a legacy. My personal impact as it relates to my work is something that I hold very close to my heart. I have been able to leave a lasting impact on many of my various internships and contract positions, and therefore I want to be able to do the same in a greater capacity for a long-term position.
Overall, I find myself most proficient in positions with a mutual passion for the topic at the forefront. Doing something that I love keeps me on my toes and excited to bring my creative abilities to the table, and I hope you will consider me as a good fit for this position, in the same vein that I consider this position a good fit for me.
