Greetings,
I am enthusiastic in applying for this position as I have a keen interest in helping others and I believe this position provides that opportunity. I received my bachelors of science in Public health in 2021, and took courses to fulfill prerequisites for dental school which has provided me with an extensive educational background in both public health and science in which I learned and became very familiar with statistics and data analysis and research, public health policy and grant writing, and courses focusing on disease control and HIV/AIDs prevention, and have taken science laboratory courses and am proficient with lab techniques. I completed a public health field internship where I aided elders with their mental health needs, medical needs or food needs who were in imminent danger and could not leave the house during the pandemic, aided in graphic design, and completed data entry and some scientific research on the psychological effects of social isolation on the elderly population.
I gained many transferable skills and relevant experience completing multiple service terms with AmeriCorps, one being during COVID helping provide mental health and wellness resources, self-care resources, and organizing food resources for those in need, another in collaboration with the San Francisco Giants helping organize and run a free program for underserved youth which provided health education, character development, and promotion of good health for the youth, organization, graphic design, research, and project management, and another term in 2022 with the Black Parent Initiative non-profit Organization, serving communities of color as a community outreach coordinator aiding in data entry and intake, research, connecting families to resources and culturally specific resources such as healthcare, mental health, food, clothing, rental assistance, doula/lactation services, child/family development and education resources, aided in organizing community events and giveaways and fundraisers, organized a blood drive event for sickle cell anemia, and completed a program to become a certified community health worker who advocates for patients/clients, educates on community health needs/prevention and diseases, and connects clients to resources for all their healthcare needs and aid patients and clients stay on track with their healthcare needs. Additionally, I am currently employed part time as sterilization technician/assistant at a pediatric dentistry inn an extremely fast-paced environment, working on infection control, greeting and seating patients for treatment and exams, helping the doctor chart and complete patient notes, scheduling patients, help aid office with other needs to help office flow, and occasionally assisted doctor with treating patients for fillings, SDF, and sealants, and am CPR certified.
I believe that I can bring many strengths to this job setting, my bachelors in public health helped me learn a significant amount of information on community health, disadvantaged communities, customer service skills, time/project management, data entry, communication skills, and I thrive with working in a team environment and I am also efficient in multitasking and time management as I have had to juggle taking courses and studying while working two jobs at one point, and playing a division 1 sport while maintaining a good GPA. I have an extremely high work ethic and strong desire to learn and master things, and help others. I believe that I have many transferable skills that could be effective in this position, and I would very much appreciate the opportunity for an interview if you’d consider me.
Thank you for your time and consideration of my application, and I am looking forward to hearing back from you!
