Program Specialist (AOD) - DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS - Pineville, LA

As a Program Specialist (AOD), I am responsible for the representation of the facility and all administrative matters that occur outside of a normal tour of duty. I have in-depth knowledge of federal laws, VA regulations, station directives, and relevant legal decisions that affect veterans' and beneficiaries' care, treatment, eligibility, and benefits. I maintain the ability to act independently and exercise sound judgment in administrative matters during non-standard hours, in the absence of higher management.

I work with little supervision, taking responsibility for the full range of AOD/HOD duties during evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. I currently work a fulltime rotating schedule consisting of 07:30 – 4:00; 4:00 – 12:00; and 12:00 – 08:00.

• The ability to juggle a variety of duties and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, complex medical center environment.
• The capability to analyze complex situations, identify problem areas, and make recommendations or implement resolutions, particularly in high-stress or emergency situations.
• Expertise in administrative procedures related to patient admissions, transfers, and dispositions. This includes complex issues like patient eligibility, legal detainment, deaths, and incidents involving loss of personal property.
• Thorough understanding of how different healthcare support functions and operations interrelate to ensure continuity of patient care, especially during off hours.
