I have been involved and immersed in the art world for years. I have completed 3 years of 2D work in high school and then have focused in 3D work, specifically in ceramics, into the collegiate level at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay (UWGB).
During my time at UWGB, I have completed many art classes such as photography, 2d and 3d design, sculpture, drawing, and my favorite- ceramics. I fell in love with ceramics and have seized many opportunities given to me in that area. There have been opportunities for me to work with porcelain, stoneware, slip casting, hand building, inlay, and wheel throwing. My passion in ceramics have earned me a studio assistant position where I reclaim clay and mix glazes for class use, load, start, and maintain the kiln, clean the studio, assist with admin demands, and in accordance with these skills, I earned a teacher assistant position for Intermediate Ceramics.
An additional art responsibility and opportunity I capitalized on was becoming the President of Art Agency which is the art club at UWGB. In this role I work with supporting student artists by connecting them with the community in many different ways along with organizing and executing different art events within the school year.
My teaching art classes go beyond what I do at UWGB. I have been assisting and instructing with painting classes at Board and Brush Creative Studio for over a year. I teach ages 5 years old - adult classes by helping them create custom creations using paint, stain, wood, hand, and power tools. Over the course of my employment, I became trusted with not only instructing solo, but also opening and closing the studio space and business operations.
My work experience includes a painting instructor at Board and Brush Creative Studio, a Studio Assistant at UWGB ceramics studio, and a Teacher at Champions. At Board and Brush, I have been teaching classes for over a year where I lead ages 5-adult in painting classes. As a Studio Assistant at UWGB for the past semester, I have been tasked with mixing reclaim studio clay, making porcelain slip, making glazes, starting, maintaining, and loading the kiln. Lastly, at Champions, I have taught a before and after school program for 1.5 years at Bay Harbor Elementary students pre-k through 4th grade. There I have developed curriculum, carried out lessons, and supported students.
I have already completed an associates degree in art and science at UWGB. Beyond that, I am currently completing a bachelors degree at UWGB with a major in studio arts with a focus in ceramics and a minor in art history.
