Melissa Algahtani

I’m a secondary English educator with 13 years of experience designing & implementing my own curriculum. I have experience in a variety of leadership roles, such as becoming a department head, leading professional learning communities, and mentoring new teachers. I am looking to expand my impact through areas like mentoring and curriculum design.

I taught for 10 years in Tampa, Florida. I’ve been teaching in Roanoke, Virginia since 2022. I am also a certified yoga teacher, and have taught yoga since 2021. In my teaching career, I have led grade level groups & other professional learning communities. I am currently the English department head at my school. I have been part of design teams for school wide projects. I have also mentored new yoga teachers since 2022.

I have held a degree in secondary English education since 2011. I am currently working on obtaining a Master’s Degree in Social-Emotional Learning, Mindfulness, and Yoga.
