Michael Northam

I have been working for the past 25 years as an independent media producer with a emphasis on sound for documentary film and my own sound-art compositions. This work has take me to various places around Europe and south Asia.

When in the US, I have been recently located in southern Oregon where I have done all sorts of side jobs that include : print production for a local newspaper, shuttle driving for the airport, light carpentry and building work, light farm work.

Therefore I have computer/office skills as well as other varied skills.

CAREER EXPERIENCE

Audio Production / Sound Design 25+ years of Experience

• Computer based sound design since the advent of the technology.
• Archiving for large catalogs of recordings of music, sound effects and spoken word. • Sound recordist for effects and foley for film and documentary productions.
• Post Audio mixing for broadcast and streaming.
• Sound Restoration from magnetic mediums (1⁄4” reel and cassettes).

Computer Based Media Design 25+ years of Experience

• Start to finish production for printed material and package design. • Video and audio media for on-line art publications.
• Immersive Audio spatial design and implementation.
• Project organization and file management.
• Curated and produced sound-art oriented record labels.

Other Experience

• Organized first ever Sonic Arts / Sound Engineering course in Bhutan
• Organized first ever Sonic Arts course in Santiniketan and Ashoka, India - students have advanced professionally afterwards as sound-artists and joining academic sound-arts programs in Europe.
• Assistant to senior artists in Europe/US - driving and movement of their exhibitions - including Catherine Christer Hennix and Michael Peter Cain.
• Organization and management of media art exhibitions and publications in Europe and US.
