Hi! I’m an 18-year-old high school graduate who spent the past year at an educational gap year program in Israel, volunteering at the Biblical Museum of Natural History one to two days a week and learning at my school, Midreshet Amudim, on all the other days. I have experience working with kids—I spent two summers as a full-time counselor at Ramah Day Camp in Nyack, NY—as well as knowledge of how to operate in a workplace.
As I start my post-high school career this year, I want to gain customer service and team-building experience, while continuing to build my passion for all things reading and writing.
For the last two summers of high school, I worked as a camp counselor at Ramah Day Camp in Nyack, NY. I spent the 2023-2024 school year on a gap year program in Jerusalem, Israel, during which I volunteered at the Biblical Museum of Natural History one to two times a week. I also volunteered at Hadassah Medical Center in Ein Karem, Jerusalem for two months in the fall.
All of these experiences helped me to build my skills in the workplace and understand how to operate as part of a team, and guided me through the transition process of becoming an adult.
I attended The Idea School, a project-based learning high school in Tenafly, NJ, from 2019-2023.
School was founded on the principle that the current American education model caters only to the small minority of students who are able to effortlessly succeed in a test-taking environment; its founders understood that project-based learning is a powerful tool to properly prepare adolescents for the “real world.” I feel as though the Idea School provided me with invaluable life skills compared to my peers, and feel incredibly lucky to have attended it.
