Outpatient surgery | Southaven, MS 6/2022-6/2023
- Prepare patients for surgery by obtaining medical history, medication list, baseline vital signs, inserting IVs, consent forms, etc.
- Monitor post operative patients by obtaining vital signs & incision revision every 15 minutes, making sure urination and tolerable pain is obtained before discharge.
- Perform BCG, intravesical immunotherapy for treating early-stage bladder cancer
- Infuse blood transfusions while monitoring vital signs and watch for any reaction
- Monitor & treat patients for complications such as hemorrhage, malignant hyperthermia, allergic reactions, pneumothorax, shock, urinary retention, etc.
- Provide discharge instructions and specific post operative surgery education
- Obtain and execute physician’s & anesthesiologist’s orders through the phone using the SBAR method
- Follow up with patients through the phone to reinforce education and answer any questions they have
