Olympia Martin

I am a passionate art educator and artist. I have taught a variety of art techniques ranging from digital art to painting to sculpture to students of all ages and backgrounds. I love working with students, staff, and family to foster a love for art and the humanities. I have worked with students on their art portfolios applying to college, as well as exhibited their work through out the school for staff and family to appreciate.

Paterson Prep Charter School - Paterson - Founding Digital and Traditional Art Teacher 05/16/2023 - Current 

• Founding Art and Art History teacher and a member of Paterson Prep’s Fine and Applied Arts team.
• Taught a variety of artistic techniques, including traditional acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, clay and mixed media sculpture, photography,and digital art
• Taught art to all the scholars at Paterson Prep, working closely with fellow staff members to assist with the scholar’s morning arrival, recess and lunch activities, and dismissal. 
• Developed and delivered engaging, age-appropriate art lessons aligned with curriculum standards that emphasis creative and critical thinking, engaging scholars in both art history and the contemporary art world.
• Curated the work of Paterson Prep scholars for exhibits throughout the school. 

• Taught traditional art students how to use a variety of traditional art techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and collage. 
• Taught digital art students how to use a range of digital art tools including Adobe Animate, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, and Photoshop to create high-quality projects ranging from animated shorts movies to designs for accessories, buildings, and clothing. 
• Introduced them to design elements such as shape hierarchy, color theory, and composition.
• Collaborated with teachers to have a fruitful and positive environment.

• Taught art to middle and high school students at Rutgers Community Arts in New Brunswick. 
• Helped students improve their technical skills and creative problem-solving.
•  Introduced key ideas and figures from art history. Curated the final exhibit of the student’s work and provided feedback to students and parents.
