I am currently a history student passionate about accessibility in education and people-facing work. I have worked a variety of jobs from factories to retail and now I enjoy tutoring students in writing at my university. I love collaborative, time sensitive, and self-motivated work that allows me to connect with new people everyday. From my time in the service industry, I am big on hospitality as well.
As a nineteen year old, I worked two jobs alongside each other. By morning I was an assistant to multiple clerks and attorneys and by night I worked for UPS in my rural era. The high stress environment of felony court came with a necessary attention to detail and ability to work with sensitive materials. I was given the freedom to develop their destruction and digitization project that preserved cases for more decades of storage, and I think that that time made me a more self-motivated worker overall. I really cared about both jobs and in a way they were both opportunities for customer service. Later, I began working for Mariano's as a cashier along with a part-time job at a thrift store. Both made me feel comfortable with registers and the fast-paced decision making that service jobs require. Each of my smaller jobs (including some construction and factory work in high school) made me especially able to pick up skills quickly and know when to ask for help.
Now, I am a part-time tutor and it is definitely the most fulfilling work I have ever done. I have picked up the ability to communicate even better and tailor my feedback to best assist whoever walks in the door.
I am a incoming Senior at DePaul University and expect to finish in November 2024.
