Paul Arey

I'm Paul, a Chicago native and recent chemical engineering graduate from Case Western Reserve University with a focus on energy systems and environmental engineering. I have experience as a water and wastewater engineering intern at Greeley and Hansen and skills in research and tutoring. I'm open to any type of engineering work that needs a chemical engineering skillset, but have specific interests in the energy and water engineering industries.

Wastewater and Water Engineering Intern ─ Summer 2022

• Generated pumping and system curves for 5 pump sizes at county-wide sewage pumping station
• Collaborated in the creation of new modern sewer system for Henrico County by performing drop inlet, flow, sizing, and major and minor head loss calculations 
• Completed total lead and copper service line replacement project within Henrico County using ArcGIS data and county records cross-referenced with field observations to create assumptions for the presence of hazardous piping materials; assessed over 500 properties

Case Western Reserve University - Chemical Engineering Design Project for Energizer Holdings, Inc. ─ Cleveland, OH

Student ─ Spring 2022

• Designed and simulated new process for production of LMO and LNMC lithium-ion battery cathode precursor material, saving client over $2,000,000 annually when compared with the previous design solution
• Researched potential interactions between devices and materials involved to create FMEA and investigate broader safety, environmental, and ethical impacts of new process

Adsorption Research Assistant ─ Spring 2022

• Investigated materials for use in greenhouse gas capture, quantifying adsorbing capacity and efficiency of over 100 materials by using pixel interpolation small tool to extract exact location of points along adsorption isotherm graphs
• Results enabled determination of most effective material for adsorbing greenhouse gases using proprietary algorithm

• Facilitated test prep for ACT and SAT at local Cleveland public high school through tutoring of diverse group of elementary and high school students in math, science, and reading comprehension
