Service had assumed responsibility for the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire and on September 30, 2022 and Congress passed a government spending bill that included $5.45B in relief for those affected by the horrific fire that was accidentally started by the federal government.

• Assisted DHS/FEMA in the reporting, analysis and evaluation of business loss claims including but not limited to business interruption loss, damage to tangible assets or inventory, overhead, employee wages, and loss of business net income.
• Responsible for writing and performing peer reviews for over 200 SME Accounting reports with zero appeals.
• Performed complex analysis of financial and business records to support Federal Awards.
• Ensured the awarded compensation amounts were compliant with the State of New Mexico.
• Successfully calculated over $9M in claims paid to date with zero kickbacks and awarded appeals.

Forensic Accountant/Audit Consultant - FCMAT (Fiscal Crisis & Management Assistance Team)

Perform detailed Fraud and Forensic Audits for K-14 Non-profit Educational Systems in accordance with AB 139 Regulations. I develop audit plans, collaborate with stakeholders and lead audits tailored to each individual institution. I examine financial transactions and documentation with my team to identify discrepancies, misconduct and fraudulent activities.

• During one AB 139 Extraordinary Audit, I led an investigation of the County Office of Education Associated Student Body (ASB) Accounting Department. My report identified numerous diversions and specific action steps to notify relevant authorities. The diversions totaled $1.5M in this case and the ASB Bookkeeper who was responsible for the diversions is now serving time in prison. • Streamlined the month-end accounting close so that each reporting period could be closed in 2 days instead of 2 weeks.
• Developed a template to track and compare actual payments to amounts expected for each patient. I then took this a step further and implemented an immediate appeal process for all underpayments.
• My work improved cash flow significantly. As a result of my efforts in improving cashflow. I was then able to help Doctors Hospital finance a capital project without going to an outside lender. This project increased the number of beds from 50 to 60.
• I trained one of my direct reports who then continued to provide Chief Financial Officer services to WCMC through my own corporation PSH Consulting, Inc from 2011-2022.
