About
Developmental and molecular biologist with expertise in zebrafish genetics, molecular biology, fluorescence/confocal microscopy, single-cell RNA sequencing, and zebrafish husbandry. Ph.D. research used zebrafish mutants, transgenic lines, cell dissociation, and scRNA-seq approaches to study epithelial cell fate, Notch signaling, and developmental phenotypes. Postdoctoral work extends experience in embryology, gene regulation, histone antibody validation, Western blotting, TAU gel electrophoresis, CUT&RUN, and genomic techniques.
Strong experience in laboratory organization, record keeping, scientific writing, and trainee mentoring.
Experience
Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Research Foundation CUNY, College of Staten Island, City University of New York (2025-09 – Present)
Gene Regulation and Genomics Lab
- Routinely use fluorescence microscopy to analyze early embryonic cells and nuclei for CUT&RUN experiments
- Performing CUT&RUN, and transcriptional profiling to dissect regulatory element function
- Validate histone antibodies using Western blotting and TAU gel electrophoresis
Graduate Research Assistant and zebrafish lab manager at Clarkson University (2023-01 – 2025-08)
- Led independent research projects focused on stem cell niche regulation and epithelial cell fate decisions during intestinal development
- Extensively used confocal microscopy to analyze zebrafish intestinal tissue
- Identified and characterized specialized epithelial niche cells that regulate stem and progenitor cell proliferation via Notch signaling
- Applied single-cell RNA sequencing to generate intestinal cell atlases and define niche-stem cell communication pathways
- Used CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing to generate transgenic models for functional interrogation of stem cell compartments
- Mentored undergraduate and junior graduate students in experimental design, molecular techniques, and data analysis
- Manage the Zebrafish system, including tasks such as colony management, feeding and daily monitoring of temperature, pH, and conductivity records, weekly water filter changes, and monthly carbon filter replacements
- Compile and manage logbooks and reports for the zebrafish system during state and annual inspections
- Regularly prepare and manage laboratory reagents and culture live feed such as brine shrimp and rotifers for zebrafish
