Rachel Rowlee

My name is Rachel Rowlee and I am from Fulton, New York. I currently attend Pitzer College in Claremont, California, and am double majoring in Environmental Analysis (Sustainability and Built Environment Track) and Anthropology (Sociocultural Track). I am a full-time student, part-time waitress, and part-time assistant equipment manager.

Watercraft Inspection Steward (SLELO PRISM)

• Working as summer watercraft inspection steward through a program initiated by the Nature Center, SLELO PRISM, and Thousand Island Land Trust.
• Inspect boats at boat launches for aquatic invasive species that are prevalent in the Saint Lawrence and Eastern Lake Ontario Region.
• Utilize Survey123 to log invasive species that are identified, and ask boaters questions about their familiarity with invasive species and "clean, drain and dry" practices.
• Accurately identify aquatic species as they are found and explain identification methods to boaters and anglers.
• Working at an informational table that provides information about various invasive species, and answering any questions or addressing any concerns.
• Write articles for SLELO PRISM/TILT webpages and newsletters about invasive species in order to increase public knowledge of identification methods, while encouraging readers to engage in hand-pulls and Invasive Species Awareness Week Events.
