I got my B.S. degree in biomedical engineering from Dordt University in 2017.
In 2023, I received my PhD in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University. My research is in electrochemical sensing, electrodeposition, water quality analysis, and nanofabrication.
I have also worked as an instructor and teaching assistant for programming, design, and instrumentation classes.
I am passionate about environmental engineering, manufacturing, and biomedical sensing.
In graduate school I have worked as an electrochemical research scientist, developing novel nanomaterials and sensors.
I have also worked as a teaching assistant: my responsibilities included leading lectures and lab sessions, writing and grading assignments, troubleshooting software and programming problems for the students (LabVIEW, Excel, Matlab, instrumentation, etc.) I have several academic publications and conference abstracts. My earliest research experience was a 2015 REU program at Iowa State, synthesizing gold nanoparticles. For many years I worked part time doing data entry and inspections review in the home insurance industry, on top of my studies.
