I am currently working as Research Scientist for a company called CytoAstra in the United States. I have previously worked as full time Assistant Professor with the department of orthopaedic surgery at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). I am extremely interested in working with your team as it will be a perfect environment for me to exercise my interests and skills while also maintaining my journey at a path of continuous improvement.
In my recent position as a full-time faculty with orthopaedics at UAMS, I was the supervisor of the orthopaedic biomechanics research lab. Here I had the opportunity to lead studies that involved biomechanical assessment of functional ability and postural stability in patients following total hip arthroplasty, lumbar spinal stenosis, and diabetic peripheral neuropathy disorder. The lab possesses a 10 camera 3-D motion capture system (Vicon Nexus), 16 channel EMG system (Delsys), force plates and several other sensors/instruments.
I just switched positions and presently I am working as a Research Scientist with CytoAstra where we are developing Cytophone technology that can detect acute and chronic diseases like malaria, melanoma, etc. My academic training and six years of experience working as a researcher prepare me to be an effective researcher in your organization. My doctoral dissertation was conducted in consultation with Prof.
Dr.
Iqbal, UA Little Rock and it investigates the postural stability in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy disorder. In my doctoral research, I developed frameworks for the detection of abnormal muscular contractions in the lower extremity muscles of diabetic patients, a framework for detecting the onset of muscle fatigue, an EMG-driven mathematical model for estimating individual muscle force, and postural stability analysis using the 3D motion capture system and force plates. This was delivered in a computer-based program (Vicon Nexus 2.9.0 and MATLAB 2019a).
I am excited to share and continue to explore new research ideas and collaborate with your team. During my graduate training, I was also fortunate enough to have served as a teaching assistant for courses such as Circuit Analysis-I, Electronics-I, and Electronics-II, and occasionally substitute lecturer for an intermediate level course on Introduction to Computer Systems. I found that my professional experience as an engineer provided me with a broad view that is useful in assisting students with projects and assignments.
These experiences have built my confidence and an interest in advanced research. In addition to my doctoral research, I have very sound experience in research and development of industrial projects. Details about some of my projects in mentioned in my resume.
While serving as research officer for the university of engineering and technology Lahore during 2016-2017, I had a chance to work as team lead on ‘Hybrid Electric Vehicle’ project which was a joint project of CAR, OSU, USA and UET, Lahore, Pakistan. I was fortunate enough to work on some grants and win money for my department. I would enjoy discussing this position with you in the weeks to come.
In the meantime, I am enclosing my curriculum vitae and list of references for your review. Letters of recommendation can be provided on demand. If you require any additional materials or information, I am happy to supply it.
Thank you very much for your consideration. Please feel free to reach out to me in case you have any questions or concerns
