My name is Samantha Stone and I am interested in pursuing a career as a veterinary technician. I am passionate about studying the behavior of and training dogs. I have gone so far as to independently study dog and cat behavior for the past 10 years, I have been a dog trainer for four years, and I also have extensive knowledge on dog breeds and their individual behaviors and personalities.
As of December 16th, 2022, I graduated from my veterinary assistant program at Pima Medical Institute and even earned the title of valedictorian! I am a certified vet assistant and I learned many skills through Pima and my 240 hour externship that will be essential to being an exceptional veterinary assistant. During my externship I learned to take radiographs, monitor patients under anesthesia, take blood samples, watched many IV catheters be placed, give various injections, sterilize surgery equipment, safely restrain patients for exams and blood draws and more.
I already possess a controlled substance license. I also have experience in whelping puppies all the way until they’re ready for homes. I have helped with bottle feeding, tube feeding and sometimes even providing fluids subcutaneously.
I also plan to eventually return to Pima to obtain a license as a Veterinary Technician.
I am currently employed as a full time canine care specialist at Canine Support Teams. They are a nonprofit program that trains high quality service dogs for people in need. There I partake in training and enrichment for our dogs, supervised play time, performing weekly medical evaluations, performing comprehensive medical evaluations on new dogs, grooming, and I maintain the kennel facility both indoors and out. Everything from dishes to laundry to isolation level disinfecting.
I know that my passion for helping animals will drive me to provide your animals with the utmost care and I would love to come work for you.
