About

Casting Development & Simulation Engineer with 6+ years of experience in aluminum high-pressure die casting, including high-vacuum HPDC, casting simulation, advanced process development, and production quality improvement. Experienced across structural body, chassis, powertrain/e-mobility, and electronics/interior components from casting feasibility and MAGMASOFT analysis through process optimization and mass-production support. Current responsibilities include HPDC/LPDC simulation, CPC-line dimensional and shrinkage improvement, HPDC leak-defect reduction, RFQ review, and manufacturing support.

Experience

Casting & Simulation Engineer at Shinhwa Auto USA (2025-07 – Present)

  • Provide casting-engineering and casting-simulation support for automotive component development, including casting feasibility, process concepts, gating and venting review, cooling strategy, and simulation-result interpretation.
  • Perform MAGMASOFT analyses for HPDC and LPDC products to evaluate filling behavior, air entrapment, solidification sequence, hot spots, shrinkage risk, and process robustness.
  • Improved dimensional deformation on CPC production-line products by reviewing thermal balance, cooling conditions, process timing, and cavity-specific behavior.
  • Improved shrinkage porosity on CPC products by optimizing holding-pressure conditions, pressure-release timing, and directional cooling toward the stalk and gate.
  • Supported HPDC leak-defect improvement by analyzing filling and pressure-transfer conditions and optimizing process parameters associated with air entrapment and internal porosity.
  • Support RFQ and development reviews with toolmakers and internal teams by assessing manufacturability and providing casting-process recommendations.

Advanced Research & Development Engineer at DnK Mobility Co., Ltd. (formerly Dongnam Precision Co., Ltd.) (2021-01 – 2025-07)

  • Developed high-vacuum HPDC aluminum structural, chassis, powertrain/e-mobility, and electronics/interior components from early feasibility review through trial, process optimization, reliability evaluation, and production launch.
  • Led casting-process development using MAGMASOFT, including product castability review, gating concepts, low-speed shot-profile optimization, cooling recommendations, and parameter definition.
  • Supported development and mass production of premium EV structural body components, including Center Spine, RBB, TGT, Side Members, Shock Tower Housing, Low Member, and End Brackets.
  • Led advanced development of one-piece aluminum subframes and cross members for compact, midsize, pickup-truck, and SUV applications, including structural/castability collaboration, wall-thickness and rib proposals, and high-vacuum die-design recommendations.
  • Developed motor housings and magnesium high-pressure die-cast instrument-panel components through material study, casting-concept review, process-condition proposals, and cost-reduction concepts.
  • Optimized heat-treatment conditions to meet mechanical-property targets and reduce cycle time for aluminum die-cast components.
  • Managed melt-quality activities, including GBF/DI stabilization, dosing-furnace inclusion control, and alloy-composition management.
  • Served as a core working-level contributor for major government-funded R&D programs and cross-functional consortium projects involving research institutes and universities.
  • Delivered cost-reduction initiatives, including nitrogen-generation implementation with approximately KRW 30 million in annual savings and ultrasonic compressed-air leak management with projected savings of approximately KRW 60 million per plant.
