I help software teams deliver results while creating an environment where people can do their best work.
Over the course of my career, I've led cross-functional teams responsible for designing, building, and supporting mission-critical applications in the banking industry.
My leadership philosophy is straightforward: remove obstacles, empower talented people, establish clear expectations, and build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. When those pieces are in place, great software follows.
As an engineering manager, I've led software engineers, quality assurance analysts, business analysts, project managers, and data professionals through complex initiatives from planning to production. My responsibilities have included strategic planning, resource management, project prioritization, production support, incident response, stakeholder communication, performance management, mentoring, and career development. I enjoy helping individuals grow into trusted technical and business leaders while ensuring teams remain focused on delivering value to customers.
Before moving into leadership, I spent more than a decade as a front-end software engineer building customer-facing applications in a highly regulated environment. That experience continues to influence how I lead. Having spent years designing solutions, writing code, troubleshooting production issues, participating in architecture discussions, and balancing technical debt against business priorities, I understand the realities developers face every day.
I believe leaders make better decisions when they understand the work they're asking others to do.
Outside my full-time role, I serve as an Online Adjunct Instructor for BYU–Idaho, where I teach the senior software engineering capstone course. I mentor student teams as they navigate the software development lifecycle—from project proposals and requirements gathering through design, implementation, testing, documentation, and final delivery. My goal is to help students graduate with not only stronger technical skills, but also the communication, collaboration, and professional habits they'll need to succeed in the workplace.
Whether I'm leading an engineering organization, mentoring developers, or teaching future software engineers, my focus remains the same: build capable teams, develop great people, and deliver software that solves real problems.
