Hard charging, award winning investigative reporter with decades of experience seeks new challenge. I have worked in newsroom in Va., N.C., Co. Utah, Ca. I enjoy writing deep-dives and narratives. My work has been honored by the Associated Press, the Los Angeles and Dallas press clubs and various state and regional press associations.
My editors describe me as a "bulldog"- a tenacious reporter who isn't afraid to ask hard questions doesn't back down from bureaucrats, and can sniff out a great yarn. Sources say I'm tough but unfailingly fair.
I am an investigative reporter for the Orange County Register and the Southern California News Group which publishes 11 daily newspapers.
My successful career has also included stints at newspapers in Utah, Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia. I have covered everything from natural disasters, plane crashes, crooked cops, politics, and have provided readers with an eyewitness, award-winning account of the execution of a death row inmate.
More recently, I obtained a confession from an accused killer in an exclusive jailhouse interview. I am also a five-time recipient of the Los Angeles Press Club's top investigative reporting award.
My investigative and enterprise reporting has also been honored by the Dallas Press Club, Orange County Press Club, Society of Professional Journalists, North Carolina Press Association, Colorado Press Association, Utah Press Association, California News Publishers Association, and the Associated Press.
