Lucas Nava

My name is Lucas Nava. I'm 22 years old and a resident of Valencia, CA. I graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor's degree in journalism in May 2022, and I'm currently seeking employment related to writing and communications.

In order to gain my Bachelor’s degree in journalism, I spent many years working for the Columbia Missourian, my college town’s local newspaper. I held many roles during that time, including reporter, editor, and page designer. I’ve had multiple articles covering various topics published both online and in the physical newspaper, and several news pages that I had designed had also been published in physical copy.

Due to my experience working in newsrooms, I believe that I have a solid understanding of the responsibilities given to writers and editors by news and publishing companies. I understand the importance of writing to attract and maintain readers, and I know how to format and document my work so that it represents my parent company and upholds the standards set by it. I also know how to work and collaborate with others, as I understand and respect the importance of group input.

My earliest experience working with online content publication was having a high school internship with Signal Multimedia, a news organization in Santa Clarita, California. For several months, I learned about various multimedia aspects of content creation, including conducting interviews, gathering sources and information, and designing news articles for online publication. My education was furthered during my four years of study at the University of Missouri.
