Sravani Kurma

I'm currently an Assistant research professor in the Department of Electrical and computer science Engineering at Mississippi State university, Mississippi, USA. I hold a Ph.D. degree in Wireless communications at the Institute of Communication Engineering, specialized in the innovative i-WiC lab at NSYSU, Taiwan. Alongside my Ph.D, I have gained valuable industry experience as a WIFI-software connectivity intern at NXP Semiconductors in Taipei.

My academic journey has been marked by excellence, earning an “Excellent PhD student Award” during my Ph.D program and a GOLD medal during my Master's in Communication Engineering at VNIT Nagpur. In addition to academic achievements, I've actively engaged in mentoring, organizing, and team-building activities. I'm passionate about imparting knowledge and fostering a collaborative work environment.

My research expertise lies in the dynamic field of wireless communications, with a focus on cutting-edge areas including 5G, 6G, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), wireless energy harvesting (EH), cooperative communications, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), Full-Duplex Communication, Cell-Free MIMO, ultra-reliable and low-latency communication (URLLC), resource allocation, and machine learning for communication. I'm enthusiastic about advancing the frontiers of wireless technology, and I'm always eager to connect with fellow professionals, researchers, and organizations with a shared interest in these exciting domains.

I have gained diverse experience in both industry and academia. As a Wireless Connectivity Software Intern at NXP Semiconductor in Taipei (Sep 2023 - May 2024), I focused on throughput analysis of Wi-Fi networks and utilized Coverity tools for embedded systems. From Sep 2021 to Sep 2024, I worked as a Research Assistant at National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung, contributing to 5G/6G communication projects funded by the Taiwan Government.

I also served as a Teaching Assistant for a Full-Duplex Communication course at the university from Jan 2022 to Sep 2023. Prior to that, I delivered over 1500 coding classes on web and app development as a Coding Instructor at Byjus Future School & Whitehat Jr (Mar 2020 - Mar 2022). Earlier in my career, I worked as a Lecturer in BSc Electronics at Apoorva Degree College in Karimnagar (2017-2019), teaching electronics courses and conducting workshops.

I hold a Ph.D. in Wireless Communications from National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan), where I achieved a CGPA of 4.26/4.3 and received the Excellent PhD Student Award (Sep 2021 - Sep 2024). I completed my M.Tech. in Communication System Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (India), with a CGPA of 8.93/10 and earned a Gold Medal (Aug 2019 - Jun 2021). I graduated with a B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering from JNTUH College of Engineering (India) with 81.12% (Aug 2013 - Jun 2017) and a Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Govt.

Polytechnic for Women (India) with 91.88% (Aug 2010 - Jun 2013).
