I am an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner from Maine. I have cared for members of the MicMac community in Canada and in Maine. I have recently moved to Arizona in search of a position providing care through the IHS. My practice is culturally sensitive . I am a leader who uses a team approach to care. I like to teach, to counsel and problem solve.
A healthy, educated family is the best way forward in these difficult days.
As an registered nurse, I first gained experience as a critical care nurse in a large teaching hospital. I eventually became a critical care resource nurse, responsible for smooth operation of eleven critical areas including ER, Bone Marrow transplant, and PACU.
In Vermont. I worked as a home health nurse and critical care nurse while I attended the University of Vermont . My masters thesis was ‘Cultural Competence in an Emerging Migrant Community. ‘
I have worked as a family nurse practitioner for over fifteen years. Most of my practice has been in Maine in primary and urgent care with occupational medicine experience as well.
My most relevant education is what I have learned practicing medicine. My formal education has given me the tools I need to practice medicine. The ability to research, assimilate and use information in a safe relevant way, has been the back bone of my practice. Caring for patients, listening to children, parents and grandparents and meeting their needs is what I do. I have become a skilled provider, confident and independent.
