I am a highly motivated individual who is passionate about the medical field. I started as a Surgical Technician and eventually worked my way to Nursing (LPN); however, I left the field to raise my family. I am excited to return to the workforce and have completed my certification in Medical Billing and Coding. I look forward to my next journey in the medical field and feel I am a good fit because of my diverse medical background.
My professional experience started as a Surgical Technologist where I played a vital role in the Operating Room by assisting surgeons and other medical professionals before, during, and after surgical procedures. As a licensed practical nurse (LPN) I provided direct patient care across various settings such as hospitals, clinics, and other health organizations, working closely with doctors and other healthcare personnel. Recently, I completed a course through Louisiana Delta Community College in Medical Billing and Coding (Remote) and became certified through the NHA (National Healthcareer Association).
I have knowledge of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes/coding. I also possess knowledge of different insurances and claim filing such as BCBS (BlueCross/BlueShield), Medicare, Medicaid, etc. through the CMS-1500 and UB-04 claim forms.
I have currently finished a Medical Billing and Coding (Remote) course through Louisiana Delta Community College where I earned my CBCS (Certified Billing and Coding Specialist) certification through the NHA (National Healthcareer Association). This was my first time doing a remote course and it allowed me to balance my studies with personal commitments through self-discipline, self-motivation, time management, and organizational skills while gaining new and essential skills for my new career in the healthcare industry. The course was structured and provided comprehensive knowledge about coding systems, billing procedures, and compliance regulations, such as HIPAA.
The curriculum included not only theoretical knowledge but also exercises that included billing different insurances through the CMS-1500 form as well as simulations of practical office skills such as scheduling appointments, insurance verification, updating patient information/payments, etc.
