Apprentice of Jesus

Over my professional career and personal life, I’ve spent a lot of time engaging with people: teaching, mentoring, coaching, counseling, speaking, and praying with them.
Because of my roles in Christian education, public schools, and ministry, I’ve had many opportunities to speak to larger audiences and in smaller group settings. I have helped coached men’s and women’s college and high school basketball programs, and worked one-on-one with people in both formal learning environments and personal growth endeavors.
The two big ideas I've gained through my experience are 1) people will not care how much you know until they know how much you care; and 2) people do not learn and truly grow without vision, intention, and means (VIM).
My ongoing reflection upon life as an apprentice to Jesus Christ energizes me to continually seek Him, pursue Kingdom opportunities to serve, and share with others a hope and a vision of their opportunity to know, worship, and serve the Lord through their unique personalities, passions, special gifts, and experiences.
Colossians 3:17 (And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him) helps us begin to see our whole life—the eternal kind of life we can enjoy even now in Christ— as joyful opportunity to love God, serve people, and live in vital, adoring relationship with Him. My life motto is contained in a statement I coined a number of years ago:
"All of life is sacred and therefore significant; there is no dichotomy between what is secular and what is spiritual. Everything we do—work, study, relate, create or play—is part of our ongoing expression of worship of the Living GOD who created us for His purpose and pleasure."
