Trevin Powell

I am a mechanical engineering undergraduate student at Brigham Young University (graduating in April of 2023) and I currently work as a Product Design Engineer at Hall Labs. I want to have the kind of job where I feel like I am actually making a difference in the world around me. I want to design and help build meaningful products that will have a positive impact on peoples’ lives. I also want to spend the rest of my life doing something that I find fascinating and exciting.

I have spent the last three years doing various types of engineering work for 4 different companies. As an in-house engineer for a coin mint, I learned to repair large machines, and to reverse engineer replacement parts. During my internship at Viasat, I designed and conducted tests using FEA tools to verify performance of parts and systems.

In all of my previous roles, I have designed and prototyped scores of parts using CAD software, including SOLIDWORKS and Onshape, as well as various rapid prototyping techniques. Due to my experience with real products at profitable companies, I have also learned to design with a manufacturing method in mind, as well the capabilities and limitations of many different manufacturing processes. I am confident in my ability to quickly learn the skills required to be an asset and a high-performance employee.

I will be graduating with a BS in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University in April of 2023.
