About
I am looking for a position in a laboratory after graduating from UCI Pharmaceutical Science major. I have been taking Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science Lab classes throughout four years. I am also currently participating in a cancer research project that requires wet lab work and cell culture for one year.
Through laboratory practices, I can handle chemicals and utilize common equipment such as glassware, digital balance, pipettes, microscopes... I have been working with cells—culture, injection, and harvest from animal. I can handle animal samples and store samples for further analysis.
I am familiar with general lab safety protocols and working under sterile environment. After reviewing this position’s description, I see this helps me strengthen my laboratory skills and offer me an opportunity to determine my future directions.
Experience
Cancer Research Project- Student Research Assistant - Dr.
Barbara
Jusiak’s Lab, UCI Department of Physiology and Biophysics
(2025-06)
In this position I perform wet-lab tasks besides handling mice. I have experiences in culturing the cancer cell lines and macrophage cell lines. I follow the lab protocols to inject and harvest the cells at specific time points.
I am familiar with preparing cell media and storage media from stock chemicals. Our research team also frequently stain cells and observe them under microscope before starting experiments. I am also familiar with staining cells to observe under microscope or use in other tests.
I perform subcutaneous injection of cancer cells and intratumoral injections of macrophage cells in the mice. The experimental mice will then be monitored at a regular basis such as weighting and measuring tumor sizes before cell harvest. My lab group and I will then perform further analysis of the tumor samples to better understand how macrophages’ transcriptomics were changing.
This requires dissecting the tumors and store the tumors at specific conditions.
Mouse Room Lab Technician - Dr.
Matthew
Rose’s Lab, UCI Department of Developmental and Cell Biology
(2024-07)
In this position, I am handling laboratory mice. I maintain the mouse colonies such as setting up breeding pairs, separating the pups, and updating each mouse genetic information to the lab’s spreadsheet. In terms of assisting genetics research team, I prepare the mouse ear tissue for genotypes. My other tasks include reporting the genetic results, following the veterinarian instructions, and communicating with the lab for further directions.
Teacher Assistant (TA) - Bolsa Grande High School
(2021 - 2022)
In my senior year of high school, I enrolled in a TA period where I helped my AP Chemistry teacher with laboratory set up. I was assigned to prepare solutions at different concentrations and necessary glassware for class experiment. I washed the classware after the experiment was over.
