DUTIES OF A FOOD HANDLER

• Wash hands properly with soap before handling food, after toilet, after eating, after touching bins
• Keep nails short, clean, and no nail polish
• Wear clean uniform, hair net/hat, and closed shoes
• Cover cuts with a blue waterproof plaster
• Report if you are sick - especially vomiting, diarrhea, or flu
• Check food for expiry dates and freshness before use
• Keep raw meat separate from cooked food to avoid cross-contamination
• Use different chopping boards: one for meat, one for veg
• Cook food to the right temperature
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces, tables, and equipment before and after use
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors daily
• Empty bins regularly and keep them covered
• Wash dishes, cutlery, and trays properly with hot water and soap
• Store cleaning chemicals safely away from food
