Progressive Care Unit, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, La Mesa, CA Mar 2022 – Present

• Serve as member of interdisciplinary healthcare team providing critical care and performing life-saving interventions in high-volume department; lead triaging of inbound patients, prioritizing of patient needs and physician actions, and providing direct medical care to critical patients until discharge or transfer.
• Provide medical assessments and care to patients across age groups, racial and cultural demographics, and complex medical histories; ailments included heart attacks, strokes, cancer, and major traumas and illnesses. 
• Initiates, maintains, and monitors IV therapy as needed, administer medications, intravenous fluids, and leads titration of vasoactive medications as necessary to patient’s treatment and recovery; assist in the preparation of patients for surgical, radiological, and bedside procedures.
• Work directly with interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient’s care plan, interview teams to understand current status, review previous treatments, and analyze lab results, and coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other specialty care providers, including Psychiatrists, Respiratory Therapists, Dieticians, and Case Managers, to adjust treatments, identify key medical referrals, and correct issues. 
• Accurately record all actions and patient updates in electronic medical record (EMR) system and reviews data with doctors to advance care plans; serve as patient advocate during care plan development and execution, and leads continual personalized patient education throughout duration of stay. 
• Collaborates with medical teams and family members to review and update treatment plans, track changes in health status and behavior, record medical personnel feedback, and work with patients to understand physical, mental, and emotional health status’; partner with patient, family and team members to develop a post-discharge plan of care.
• Supports team of junior Nursing professionals, provided training opportunities, assists in patient and operational duties, and lead reviews of performance and identify areas of improvement; leadership enabled more knowledgeable and empowered team that improved patient service and satisfaction.
• Responsible for closely monitoring acutely and chronically ill patients using focused assessments and interpreting telemetry strips and analyzing critical changes; participated on multidisciplinary team of medical professionals to assess, evaluate, and diagnose patients and develop effective treatment plans under the direction of the physician.
• Monitor vitals and administer treatment plans for patients dealing with cardiac, pulmonary, diabetic, and orthopedic issues; observe progress and updated patient charts.
• Administer blood products and assess for adverse reactions during transfusions, as well as administration of heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Integrillin; closely monitor telemetry strips to measure impacts and adjusts applications as needed.
