My name is Yixuan He, a first-year master's student at Carnegie Mellon University, majoring in Information Systems Management, focusing on Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Track. I'm actively seeking the data analytics position. What entices me to this role is the chance to collaborate with the most exceptional minds in engineering in one of the globe's most customer-focused corporations.
Given my data analytics and client communication background, I possess the necessary attributes to thrive in this role.
I've held several positions in data-related fields and focused on translating data into actionable insights. Most recently, I was a pricing analyst intern at Thermo Fisher, and my primary responsibility was to assess whether the price offered to me by the sales team was reasonable and profitable for the company by comparing it with the historical price of the item. However, these past prices are scattered across various files, with some being organized by year and others by company.
This makes it inconvenient to search for the required information. To streamline the process and boost efficiency, I consolidated all the data and created a comprehensive database by cleaning and merging the information. By building a data integration model, I developed a user-friendly database that allows for easy search by multiple categories, such as company name, year, and product purchased.
My internship experience has brought to light the immense potential of data and demonstrated the art of making insightful, data-driven decisions.
To produce more valuable insights from data, I am aware that I require additional technical skills. Fortunately, during my time at Carnegie Mellon University, I had the opportunity to develop and refine a wide range of technical abilities, including SQL, Python, Java, and R. In addition to coursework, I took it upon myself to learn data visualization tools such as Tableau.
I also worked on practical projects individually and as part of a study group. For instance, I independently executed multiple projects that primarily focused on effectively dealing with unstructured data and transforming it into a legible format. Furthermore, I led a group of four to create an implementable Python project centered on apartment rentals in Pittsburgh.
Our model enabled us to provide sound recommendations based on students' requirements. By integrating the theoretical knowledge, I acquired in class into real-world applications, I have gained a newfound appreciation for the potential and power of data.
With a combination of technical knowledge and practical experience, I can quickly grasp new concepts and perform efficiently as a data analyst. My desire to use data to create meaningful insight and generate better products for customers is one of the biggest reasons I want to join your company. I am eager to have the chance to elaborate on my skills and qualifications in more detail. Thank you for considering my application, and I appreciate your time.
