Hi! My name is You-Kwhan Kim and I'm a Software Developer currently based in New York, with a passion for building beautiful and functional websites.
Seeking a role that would allow me to blend practicality with visual creativity, I realized that the finance industry wasn't the right fit for me. That's when I started my self-taught coding journey, diving into resources like FreeCodeCamp, Scrimba, and Udemy.
I have experience working with a variety of technology, including JavaScript, React, and more to create awesome web applications. With experience in front-end development, I find working on the logical side of things to be particularly rewarding. I'm open to new challenges and aim to continuously learn and grow in my career.
During my time as a Software Engineering Fellow at Headstarter, I successfully transitioned into the realm of frontend development from my academic background. I developed and deployed three fullstack CRUD applications using technologies like React, Firebase, and Google Cloud Platform. Notably, I enabled real-time data entry and integrated serverless APIs using Cloud Firestore, contributing to improved application performance and user experiences.
Leading a team of four, I orchestrated code planning, work delegation, and pair programming. This experience underscores my ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practical applications and showcases my dedication to frontend development.
I hold a bachelor's degree from Stony Brook University, where I successfully completed a double major in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, as well as Economics. This comprehensive education equipped me with a strong foundation in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and quantitative analysis. Additionally, I expanded my horizons through a Headstarter fellowship, where I immersed myself in frontend development, diverging from my academic background.
This experience allowed me to explore the creative and artistic dimensions of technology. To complement my academic achievements, I participated in a frontend career bootcamp at Scrimba, followed by ongoing self-study with The Odin Project to gain a deeper understanding of systems and broaden my skill set in the field.
