Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar:
- Lead and supervise expert team of safety specialists (technical, health, chemical, and environmental specialist).
- Wide and varied experience in environment, health, and safety, and especially in biological, chemical and laboratory safety
- Radiation Protection Officer, appointed principal RPO for the university,
- Lead investigator for incidents with root cause analysis and advise on corrective actions.
- Developing and Overseeing/ Leading:
- Emergency Planning Life Safety, Fire Safety (NFPA) and Hazardous Waste Management: Developing safety policies, procedures, and technical documents to support research laboratory safety program according to ISO 45001, ISO 14001, design, building, electrical, NFPA fire code and local requirements.
- Implementation of safety programs, site inspection, initiation of corrective action.
- Safety inspection and audit programs.
- Revision and establishment of fire and life safety (NFPA), including management of fire warden training, maps, drills. emergency response plans.
- Environmental safety includes hazardous materials handling and disposal, waste disposal, exhaust systems, disposal of hazardous materials and other relevant issues.
- Evaluating and monitoring contractor’s health, safety, and environment practices (HSE plan, Risk assessment, PTW).
- COVID-19 management (risk management for planned events for COVID and HSE related risks, implementation of preventative and mitigation controls, training ‘return to work”).
Laboratory and other general safety training programs for diverse groups. Establishing safety courses on direct face to face, online platforms, and pre-recorded training sessions (WebEx, CANVAS).
