When I stepped into my role in electrical training, I was met with a significant challenge: a training program with a near-zero pass rate and no clear alignment with national standards. I knew that for 30 apprentices per intake, the path to their Electrical Red Seal certification was difficult. To fix this, I didn't just "teach"—I conducted a deep-dive investigation into institutional best practices and spearheaded a complete curriculum overhaul.
By aligning every lesson with SAQA ID 91761 and developing missing learning materials from the ground up, I built a systematic pathway for student success. The result? We transformed a failing program into a high-performance training hub, scaling pass rates from near-zero to over 90% within just two years.
Parallel to my institutional leadership, I serve as an External Moderator for UMALUSI, a role I have held for 6 consecutive years. Being actively contracted to the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training allows me to maintain a 360-degree view of national assessment standards. This dual perspective—as both a curriculum creator and a national moderator—ensures that the training I lead is always of the highest calibre and fully compliant with the rigorous demands of the South African education landscape.
I specialised in bridging the gap between theoretical standards and practical, industry-ready skills. I believe in creating structured, compliant, and impactful learning environments that don't just help students pass—they prepare them for the rigors of the modern industry.
