About
Dr Beukes currently holds a PhD in music education. His career as an educator and his work with B Ed students, together with his experience with choirs & within choirs, makes him an ideal candidate for the advertised position. Over the past five years he has taught a variety of music courses at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, including: History of Music, Theory of Music, Choral Training & Conducting, Music Education, piano, beginner's guitar, and academic literacy for the purpose of academic essay writing.
He has directed and conducted several choirs, including the Rehoboth Youth Choir (5 years), the Khomasdal Chamber Choir (4 years), and the Cantare Audire Choir (3 concerts during a European tour in 1999). He travelled Europe 9 times as a choir member of Cantare Audire (7 tours to Europe and 1 to America) and Sing Chronicle (1 tour to Spain). As a member of these two choirs, he participated in 3 prestigious choir competitions in Europe (Llangollen in Wales, Tours in France, and Tolosa in Spain).
He therefore has extended knowledge when it comes to the preparation, management and development of a successful choir – and possesses the necessary dedication & discipline required to implement that knowledge.
