Others needed content strategy, help documents, or SEO-focused writing. Often I came in when the problem was messy or half-defined, and helped teams get unstuck. Freelancing taught me to think fast, listen better, and see problems through multiple lenses.
It made me flexible without being vague, and confident in ambiguity.

IG is a global trading and investing platform, listed on the London Stock Exchange. I joined IG to help lead a major refresh of their Australia, UAE and Singapore websites. This meant building new page layouts, components and a whole new look and feel, all shaped by research into SEO, CRO, CRM and UX.

Stratitude is a South African marketing agency working across industries including finance, real estate, and insurance. I led the content strategy for Chas Everitt, one of South Africa's largest property groups. The project involved reviewing existing digital content, identifying inconsistencies, and mapping out a new structure and tone that felt more intuitive and trustworthy for users.
This role gave me the space to focus on big-picture strategy and apply UX thinking beyond writing screens. It reinforced the value of clarity not just in content, but in process.
UX Writer at TymeBank (2022-11 – 2024-03)
TymeBank is one of South Africa's fastest-growing digital banks, with a fully app-based experience and a focus on financial inclusion.
I worked across every product vertical including: onboarding, payments, savings, lending, insurance, investments - writing content for mobile apps, websites, USSD, SMS, and email. I helped build our content design system from scratch, supported user testing, collaborated with legal and compliance, and mentored incoming writers. I learned how to work at scale while keeping the human side of the product in focus. It taught me how to build and maintain systems, how to write with clarity across complexity, and how to bring other people along for the ride.
Digital Copywriter at VML (2019-10 – 2022-11)
VML is a global creative agency with a presence in South Africa working for many large brands. I worked on digital content and UX writing for brands including Vodacom, Ford, MINI, Absa, and Coca-Cola. One highlight was Vodacom's award-winning #BeTheLight campaign, tackling gender-based violence in South Africa.
I moved between creative campaigns and product content. This role taught me how to keep creativity and clarity working together, and how to manage writing in fast-moving agency environments.
UX Writer at Old Mutual (2019-05 – 2019-09)
Old Mutual is a major investment, savings, insurance, and banking group listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. I wrote UX copy and developed a content design system for Old Mutual's new websites and apps. This involved collaborating closely with design and product teams to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance across digital touchpoints.
This contract deepened my skills in content design systems and UX writing for highly regulated financial services, while navigating complex stakeholder needs.
Technical Copywriter at Stratum Benefits (2019-01 – 2019-12)
Stratum Benefits is a specialist gap cover insurance provider. I wrote marketing and technical documents, translating complex insurance terms into plain language that customers could trust. I worked closely with the communications team to make compliance feel less like a barrier and more like a guideline. This was a deep dive into writing for regulated industries while preserving an honest, approachable tone.

Ogilvy Namibia is a full-service creative agency. I worked on the rebrand of Bakpro, one of Namibia's largest baked goods producers. I developed messaging that spanned packaging, campaigns, and digital platforms, ensuring consistency and personality across channels. It sharpened my ability to work within brand systems and to write with a strong but adaptable voice.
