I started my career as a trainee mechanical engineer at Kentron (a division of Denel) in Jan 1985. Was appointed by Nissan South Africa (Pty) Ltd. as Process Engineer and Press Tool & Jig Design Engineer from February 1991 to October 1995.
I was formerly Head of Purchasing RSA at REHAU Polymer (Pty) Ltd. from September 2008 to December 2017, Head of Procurement & Logistics at Buhler S.A, Honeydew, Johannesburg from August 2007 to November 2008 after a 12 year career with Mercedes-Benz S.A, Export & Procurement Division, East London during which I’ve gained extensive experience over a broad spectrum of disciplines such as Procurement, Supply Chain Development, Logistics Engineering and Manufacturing, Business Development, Process Engineering, Jig and Tool Design, Component Exports Marketing & Operations.
I was assigned as a representative for the Mercedes-Benz S.A Procurement & Export Division at the DaimlerChrysler Sindelfingen Plant in Germany during 2004 and 2005 to manage the industrialisation process for the localisation of components in South Africa which were to comply with local content and export standards. I’ve gained invaluable international experience during this expat contract, learned to communicate in German and to work and live abroad.
I returned to Mercedes-Benz S.A in East London during November 2005 to resume with my position as Market Manager Component Exports and subsequently accepted a new challenge at Buhler S.A, Honeydew, Jhb. in August 2007 as Head of Procurement & Logistics.
REHAU Polymer (Pty) Ltd., East London approached me in 2008 and offered me the position as Head of Procurement RSA and I relocated back to East London end 2008.
I’ve was appointed at Aspen Pharmacare (Pty) Ltd, Port Elizabeth in Jan 2017 as Purchasing Manager NPS.
With 38 years experience in the Manufacturing Industry; thereof 25 years in the Automotive Industry, I’ve gained extensive experience in negotiation skills, a very good understanding of best practice, strategic procurement, cost reduction processes, customer relations skills, ability to train and be trained.
Being a team player, my goal is always to get the whole team across the finish line. I am able to communicate at all levels (from the boardroom to the shop floor level).
