Jordan Tuan

My name is Jordan Tuan, aged 31. I am Taiwanese born holding a South African Passport/ID where I had resided for the first 25 years of my life before moving over to Indonesia for work and have now returned back to South Africa. All my schooling and flight training have been achieved within the Republic of South Africa, flight training through the South African Civil Aviation Authorities, I hold a Multi-Engine/Instrument-Rated SACAA CPL with single and multi turbine endorsements, while pursuing further studies part-time at University level.

I was previously employed at Susi Air, a bush airline in Indonesia where I was responsible for conducting safe operations on the Cessna C208B Grand Caravan. Transporting passengers and a variety of cargo and aid into mountainous areas and unimproved strips. The combination of mountainous terrain, everchanging strip conditions, and tropical weather has made this a uniquely educational and challenging experience.

Additionally, the remoteness of this operation necessitates navigating delicate political situations as well as personally assessing aircraft airworthiness. The nature of our operation here has made me comfortable operating close to high terrain in generally hot and humid conditions, assessing surface conditions, and making judgement calls based on performance and weather trends. I’m interested in a position on your team not only to broaden my horizons but also because I believe my experience could make me a valuable member to your operation.

Pilots are expected to demonstrate smooth CRM, wise decision making, thorough situational awareness, and calm handling of emergencies in IMC. We are not released onto the flight line until we can prove these capabilities beyond doubt and are continually assessed with great scrutiny. It is my hope that the intensity of this preparation will make me an attractive candidate to your team.
