I completed my B Proc degree in 1996 and started my articles in Port Elizabeth in 1997, being admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 1999. I started my articles at a labour law firm R C Futter and Associates and then went on to work at Thomas Lawrence Attorneys where I obtained work experience in all aspects of law. From criminal court to civil work, divorce, maintenance and debt collection process (summons to warrants) RAF.
I have managed to work in every aspect of the Law, as well as assisting in High Court trials and divorces. After a few years I moved over to Michael Howcroft Inc which is an accounting and auditing firm, where I took over the legal side and formed Close Corporations, Companies, Trusts, Lease Agreements and Wills. In 2001, I was employed at Maurice Miltz Inc and attended to Civil trials, debt collection, MVA, maintenance, divorce proceedings, debt collection and issuing summons to trial stage.
I completed my conveyancing exam and was admitted as a conveyancer of the High Court in 2003. After 5 years I then moved to Burmeister De Lange where I was employed in the Conveyancing department where I assisted with the Developments (Parsons Vlei/ Parsons Green/Parsons Ridge) and attended to the transfer of properties as well as attending to all the registration of all major banks for bond registrations. I liaised directly with all estate agents and all the major banks.
After 5 years at Burmeister's I was head hunted by Investec Bank and started working in their legal risk department. I managed the bond and transfer registrations, payouts of the bonds, all payouts made daily on behalf of the bank. I was appointed as the bank proxy.
After almost 5 years in that role, I was employed in 2014 as the Employee Wellness Officer at Compsol and have been in this role for 11 years. I give legal advice, assist the staff with budgeting, financial issues, wills and counselling. I feel that I can contribute as a Lecturer as I have experience in all aspects of the Law and have also completed a course as a Lay counsellor.
I am passionate about helping others, especially young people. Over the years I have become involved with and often have to prepare and talk in front of over 100 people, and I am very comfortable in this area, and although I have not lectured (only in varsity as a student assistant) I feel very comfortable. I have administration skills and very good with time management and attention to detail.
I work extremely well in a team and believe I could be an asset at your campus.
