Lance Hobson

I am a skilled and detail-oriented individual with a passion for writing, editing, instructional designing, and transcribing. With a strong background in communication, English, and linguistics, I have demonstrated expertise in lesson preparation and planning, instructional design storyboarding, assignment grading, copy editing, and proofreading academic essays. My experience as an English teacher and content writer has honed my instructional abilities and my ability to produce high-quality written content. My experience as a Content Developer allowed me to fine-tune my instructional design storyboarding capabilities. Furthermore, my proficiency with Microsoft Office, Grammarly, LaTeX, Slack, Express Scribe Software, and typing further enhances my abilities. With a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Language Studies and English Literature and an Honours of Arts in Applied Language Studies, I possess a solid educational foundation.

I worked as a linguistics lecturer and tutor at the university level. At AmazingTalker, I was externally contracted to ghostwrite articles for their ESL blog. EDGE Education then employed me as a content developer. My role as a content developer included researching, authoring, writing, reworking, reviewing, editing, and proofreading various educational materials. Additionally, I was tasked with completing instructional design projects. These included storyboarding, reworking, reviewing, editing, and proofreading quizzes, interactions, and videos for their digital coursebooks. As a technical copy editor, I edit scientific peer-reviewed journals. I have been freelancing as an ESL teacher for about 4 years now.

I graduated as a double major with a bachelor's degree in Applied Language Studies (Linguistics) and English Literature from Nelson Mandela University. I also graduated with an honour's degree in Applied Language Studies (Linguistics) from Nelson Mandela University. Furthermore, I am in possession of a 120-hour in-class TEFL certificate.
