I completed my work experience at Johannesburg Water while pursuing studies in Process Control Supervision (NQF Level 4). During this time, I gained hands-on experience in water treatment processes, including coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. I learned how to monitor and adjust key parameters such as pH, turbidity, and chlorine levels to ensure safe and high-quality drinking water.

I thrive in shared environments and have strong skills in file assessment, moderation, and data capturing using Excel and Word.

Process Controller At A Water Treatment Facility - Rand Water (Vaal Marina) - Vaal Marina

• Chemical Handling involves understanding hazards, using appropriate personal protective equipments (PPE), following established procedures, and ensuring proper storage and disposal to protect individuals and environments. Checking stored chemicals for deterioration and broken containers.
• Taking Readings, knowing how to identify key perimeters depending on the stage of treatment knowing how to measure raw water quality which includes pH, turbidity, temperature, total dissolved solids, hardness and chlorine levels and checking chemical dosing. Use proper equipment, pH meter to measure the acidity chlorine test kit measures free and total chlorine.
• Sampling procedure use clean sampling bottles and rinse bottles 3 times with the same water before collection. Avoid air bubbles in chlorine or dissolved oxygen samples. Label samples with date, time and location.
• Recording and analysing data maintaining logs for daily readings and compare with standard limits and also identify trends and anomalies for process optimisation
• Emergency response identifying potential emergencies which are contamination events, equipment or process failures and natural disasters

Process Controller under wastewater Treatment Plant - Joburg Water (Olivantsvale) - Olivantsvale

• Sampling procedure use clean sampling bottles, labels the bottles with date, time and location and the name of the sample. Wear protective gear and ensure proper preservation. Rinse sample bottles 3 times with waste water before collecting and submerge the bottles in the flow. Filling in the bottles completely to avoid air bubbles and cap it tightly and place it in the cooler.
