I am currently a business partner in a car rental company overseeing daily operations. I manage the sales, marketing and general administration of this small start-up company. I have recently handed over the operations of the car rental company so I can pursue my passion which is being part of the education or tourism sector
I was employed at the Berea Group of Colleges in Durban from January 2018 to August 2021. I was the HOD for the Engineering advisory department and the academic HOD for the Engineering Distance faculty. I managed a team of 10 student advisors/tutors by overseeing and monitoring their daily tasks and duties and ensuring the daily objectives are met.
I was responsible for their training and development and contributed significantly to preparing them for their future careers. I was involved in both the operational and strategic management of my department which incorporated training, recruitment, compiling reports, project management, administration and quality assurance. I have also been part of the tourism sector with 5 years of experience in a travel agency.
I also have more than 5 years of experience managing the operations of a car rental company.
I have an MBA qualification, a PGCE (Senior Phase and FET: Business Studies and EMS) and a National Diploma in Travel and Tourism. My dissertation topic was “A systematic review of marketing strategies in medical tourism.” I can also competently teach Tourism. I am presently in the second year of my PhD in Management Studies at the University of South Africa.
My research is in the field of operational risk management in Private Higher Education focusing on remote learning in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. I am also registered with SACE and I have completed an online copy-editing course with the University of Cape Town.
