I am Mkhanyisi Phillips, I was born and raised in the Eastern Cape province where I did all my junior studies up to matric. In 2009 I moved to the Western Cape in pursuit for better education.
I later went to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology where I obtained a National Diploma: Sport Management and BTech: Sport Management. I got an internship opportunity at City of Cape Town (Department of Sport and Recreation) towards the end of my National Diploma, the internship contract was for six month. I got trained in Personnel Management, Project Management, Asset & Inventory verification, Physical Recreation and Tender Systems on SAP.
Within the four years that I was at CPUT I spent a year working as a tutor for junior students. I was very much involved in campus sports events and I once worked as a Sports Coordinator for South Point student residence. As time progressed I decided to go and study BA (Honours) Sport and Recreation Management at University of the Western Cape which I completed in 2017.
In 2014 I was employed at Zone Fitness (Fitness and Wellness organisation) as a Fitness Instructor and Sales Official. I served them for fourteen months and left them as I got a better offer at UWC as a Bookings Administrator for UWC Biokinetics Clinic. Before the end of 2016 I got employed by the City of Cape Town (Department of Sport and Recreation) as a Sport and Recreation Leader which was a much better offer in terms of experience and scope of the job.
I served the City of Cape Town for three years and resigned in 2019 because I was compelled to work in an area that was very far from my family. I am currently working as a Sport Management lecturer for eta College (Port Elizabeth campus), I am lecturing virtually as I am based in Cape Town. I am currently in pursuit of a Masters degree in Sport Management as I want to add quality into my profession, my thesis is on brand development and sponsorships.
I am also currently running a sport organisation called MKANDY Sports, it is a sports marketing organisation that deals with sponsorships and endorsements. In 2016 I worked at the ABSA Cape Epic as a research official under UWC.
