Project Accountant at Umgeni Water (2022-10 – Present)

Support project financials, manage work-in-progress, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and handle VAT payments.

• Obtain Transaction Listing for selected projects and categorise transactions in terms of the TL analysis template
• Check recent date of activity to determine if project is still in progress
• Ensure Inland and coastal renewal capex reconciliation on monthly basis and report to Assistant financial planner
• Assist with capitalisation for Mpofana and Howick projects
• Determine validity and accuracy of interest charged for all WIP projects
• Obtain supporting documentation to evidence expenditure (invoices, delivery notes, GRNs and timesheets)
• Assist in completion of capitalisation forms
• Review 3558 SAP report and email project accountants regarding projects at 90% of released expenditure
• Assist financial planner with confirmation of release of expenditure for each project
• Reconcile latest release of expenditure to WIP/commitment schedule amount on weekly basis
• Reconcile budgets on SAP to released expenditure plus interest
• Ensure supplements have virement form and reconcile supplements on SAP to hardcopy virement form
