About

My name is Unathi Grey currently working as the Conservation Worker and SHE representative at South African Biodiversity Institute- National Zoological Gardens. I have been working for 8 years in this position. Previously I worked as a Game Ranger and also performing field guide duties. I also worked as Environmental Educator at Mogale's Gate a game farm with a bush school.

I also work as a SHE representative in my current position and I have SAMTRAC certificate. I have been a SHE representative since 2017 till now. I have completed my Advanced Diploma in Nature Conservation.

Experience

I started working as a Nature Conservation facilitator for Tourism World for a year. I moved to work at Mogale's Gate a private game farm and I was a Game Ranger doing fence patrols, game counts, game drives, bush school tours and assisting in game culling. I worked for a year as it was a year contract. I moved to Rain farm game and lodge. I was a Game Ranger also doing fence patrols, game counts, game drives and wedding drives for photo shoots. I worked for a year and six month. I moved to Montecasino Bird Garden and worked as an animal keeper. I worked with birds, mammals and reptiles for a year and 8 months. I moved to National Zoological Gardens and I started in 2015 till now. I worked as a conservation worker till now in large mammals section. I take care of White Rhinos, Eland, Lechwe, Zebra and Pigmy hippos.

I was also nominated to be part of the safety committee as a SHE representative in 2017. I am trained in risk assessment, incident reporting and investigation, safety audits, safety management systems by NASO. I am still a SHE representative till now.
