Widad Sirkhotte

I am an enthusiastic, caring, and hardworking individual who has experience working in the fields of Education and Higher Education. My areas of expertise and interest include initial teacher education, teaching with educational technologies, teaching practice, socially-just pedagogies and course / learning design. I enjoy working in a team, empowering people, learning new things and contributing to a better society.

I have over 8 years of work experience in the higher education sector in which I have worked in various roles which has broadened my understanding of the higher education landscape and has helped to refine my communication, coordination and academic writing skills. Some of the various roles that I have occupied include being a university tutor, teaching and research assistant, instructional designer, learning designer, course coordinator and lecturer. Prior to working in higher education, I have worked as a school teacher which has instilled a love for nurturing humans as they journey through life.

In my spare time, I offer education advice and services to non-profit organisations and islamic education institutions.

BA degree (Media Studies), TEFL certificate, Diploma in Islamic Studies, Postgraduate certificate in Education (PGCE), B.Ed Honours degree, Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDip HES), Master's degree in Education. Currently pursing a PhD in Education at the University of Cape Town.
