Key Responsibilities
- Student Support
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs.
- Assist in the implementation of IEPs, adapting teaching materials and methods to meet individual needs.
- Support students in developing academic skills, as well as social and behavioral skills.
- Classroom Assistance
- Help the class teacher in preparing and organizing classroom activities and materials.
- Assist in managing classroom behavior and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Support students during transitions, such as moving between activities or locations.
3.Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with teachers, special education coordinators, and other professionals to ensure cohesive support.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and any concerns.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and any incidents.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as photocopying, filing, and preparing learning materials.
- Professional Development
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to discussions about improving support for students with special needs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is preferred.
- Understanding of various learning difficulties and disabilities.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills for record-keeping and communication.
