I am a young professional working for Porter Airlines in Toronto, Canada as a Lead of Crew Scheduling in our Operations Control Centre. I started my professional career at Porter after four years of studying aviation management at Western University, while working in hospitality part time. My life-long desire for travel and adventure have influenced my interest in the aviation industry and gaining new cultural experiences in my work life.
Since graduating from Western University with a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies, specializing in Commercial Aviation Management, I have began my professional career with Porter Airlines. in the Crew Resources department. My current role is Lead of Crew Scheduling where my responsibilities include building schedules on a day-to-day basis for flight deck and cabin crews. Following federal and company regulations while aiming for efficiency, strong communication, and an overall smooth operation are keys to success in my role. As a lead, I am responsible for coaching and assisting the crew scheduling team in communicating with crew members and other departments, organizing accommodation and transportation, and de escalating conflict when it arises.
I also have ample experience in hospitality on account of my years working in different roles in bars and restaurants. Through working as a host, expedite, server, bartender I have gained many valuable skills in terms of time management, prioritization, sales, and customer service. Currently, I work in a restaurant in Burlington, Ontario called Burro where customer satisfaction and excellent service are most valuable.
I studied Commercial Aviation Management at Western University in London, Ontario. I graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies. This program covered a wide range of topics, very beneficial to a variety of different industries. We covered subjects in business administration, accounting, human resources, operations, economics, etc. from a general business perspective. We further applied these topics specifically to the aviation industry. The basic knowledge of these subjects and the ability to apply this to a specific industry allows for easy adaptability and understanding in many other sectors.
